2021-2022 update!!

Welcome to Girls Basketball at GVMS
Down by 5 points in the 4th to a win.
Seventh grader Alexis Dietterick scored our last 4 points  to lead us to a 2 point win at Marsteller. Marsteller had just one loss. A 2 point overtime loss to. US 😉 .
So your varsity girls end their season undefeated and a regional title to boot. Ally Logan, Delaney Gilliam, Maddie McKenzie, and Aubrey Beall end their MS basketball career an even 30-0. yup. As Jv they were undefeated in the 7th and 6th grade too. Hannah Itayem was a part of those 3 championships as well.
Not to be forgotten is Ella Nhek and Kendyl Maxwell who won back to back Varsity titles with just 1 loss in their 3 years.

Hawks over the Mustangs
The varsity girls went into Reagan and claimed a 3 point victory despite trailing most of the game. Maddie Mckenzie came up big time with 11 4th quarter points including a 3-pointer an a traditional "and-1". Ella Nhek calmly hit 2 free throws when we were trailing by 1.  Aubrey Beall, Raechal Rivers, Kendyl Maxwell, Mide Akinkugbe, and Alexis Dietterick scored as well.
Madie snagged 8 rebounds and Kendyl (7), Alexis (6) and Caleigh McQuillan (6) also had big time rebounds. Maddie added 4 assists and 5 steals to top off her banner day.
With the win, we clinched a piece of the regional title. We get it to ourselves with one more win next week at Marsteller.

Hawks over Bull Run
Congratulations goes to your Hawks on their convincing win verse Bull Run. Yet again, all 13 girls played and contributed with significant quality minutes. Kendyl Maxwell (10) and Raechal Rivers (9) led our scoring. Caleigh McQuillan and Delaney Gilliam each added 6. Big Ally Logan hit her first MS 3-pointer. Alexis Dietterick was our top rebounder with 8. Ally also led the distribution process with 5 assists. Ella Nhek and Aubrey Beall each added 3 steals to lead our defense.
This win concludes an undefeated calendar year for varsity girls. Between January of 2019 and this November-December the  girls were 10-0. Unfortunately, that accomplishment does not give us the championship this season (though it did 2019).  In January we play 3 games our first week back. Those games will decide the regional winner of 2020.
Hawks over Manassas Park
The Varsity Hawks went to Manassas park and left with an impressive win verse a team who has given many teams fits.
Two super-impressive things.
1-We won despite a star player being out sick or injured (not sure which-i hope Maddie feels better).
2-All 12 girls scored. A first that I can recall.
Leading the way was Raechal Rivers with an impressive 14 points including 6-8 from the free throw line (with three "and-1's").
Ella Nhek, Aubrey Beall, and Kendyl Maxwell each scored 7 points. Top rebounder was Hannah Itayem who out-hustled everyone for 7 rebounds.
Hawks over Bulldogs
A nail-biter of a game in a battle of undefeated titans. Marsteller actually were titans. They were big.
However, thanks to a Kendyl Maxwell last second shot to put us into overtime and an Alexis Dietterick bucket with less than a minute left. The Hawks prevailed by one point in overtime. The usual steady theme was Maddie Mackenzie's performance. Leading the team with 5 steals and 15 points. Including a big 3 that gave us the lead in overtime. Ella Nhek had an awesome 7 assists to help out the Hawks.  Ally Logan, Delaney Gilliam, and Ella Nhek also scored for the Hawks.

Hawks over Reagan

Congratulations goes out to your varsity Hawks on their tight win over a strong Reagan team.  Things were not clicking, however, the girls made many adjustments. Big game from 7th grader Alexis Dietterick. She led all scorers with 12 points despite being in foul trouble. Equally impressive was her 9 rebounds. Madie Mckenzie had 8 points and 6 rebounds.  Ella Nhek chipped in with 7. Aubrey Beall, Kendyl Maxwell, and Delaney Gilliam also scored for the undefeated Hawks. Ella had 3 steals as did Ally Logan to shine for our defense.
Hawks over Panthers
Congratulations goes out to your varsity Hawks on their win over Parkside Tuesday night at Parkside. It was a close game however we "won" each quarter and by the end of the game, we had a comfortable lead. All girls played and contributed.
Maddie McKenzie again was crucial for your Hawks. She scored 11 points and had 6 rebounds and 7 steals with zero turnovers. Steady.
Alexis Dietterick scored 7 points and Delaney Gilliam added 6 points. Those same two along with Mide Akinkugbe had success on the boards with 6 rebounds each.
Ally Logan, Ella Nhek, Aubrey Beall, Kendyl Maxwell, and Caleigh McQuillan all added points.
Ally  and Ella  each had 3 assists and 3 steals to fuel our team.

Hawks over Bull Run
Congratulations goes out to your Lady Hawks on their convincing win at Bull Run. All 13 girls played and contributed.
It was Madie Mckenzie's day. 22 points, 5 steals and 6 rebounds. Wow.
A personal favorite stat, Ella Nhek led the team with 5 assist.
Getting 5 steals each along with Madie  to help the defense were  Ally Logan along with Ella Nhek.
Leading rebounders along with Madie were Kendyl Maxwell, Caleigh McQuillan, and Alexis Dietterick each with 5.

Hawks over Metz
A congratulations goes out to your varsity hoopers on their convincing win over Metz in their season opener here at Gainesville Thursday evening.
10 different girls scored led by Madie McKenie's 8 points.  Delaney Gilliam and Aubrey Beall each added 7.  My favorite and most unselfish stat, the assist, was owned by Aubrey Beall (5) and Madie McKenzie (7). Caleigh McQuillan and Kendyl Maxwell each grabbed team high  6 rebounds.  Raechal Rivers led our defense with 4 steals. 7 girls added a pair of steals to help our cause.
